The intended use of this brochure is to provide needed information to nurses to ensure they have the knowledge necessary to administer Skyclarys for a patient who may be suffering from Friedreich’s Ataxia; a genetic condition. This brochure gives facts along with background information that could help in terms of medical errors, patient complications, etc. With this brochure the nurse can effectively administer this drug without having to worry about what ifs and oops. Having the information incorporated into this brochure allows the nurse to be able to perform their job to the best of their abilities. It helps them understand dosage, effects; good and bad, what the drug does, as well as labs and values needed prior to administering. The nurse would know the what ifs, the interactions, and take the objective and subjective data gathered to make an appropriate decision on whether it is safe to administer for this patient or not. This brochure's overall intended use is to teach nurses so they can better understand the drug from all aspects. The information in this brochure would be revised if intended for an audience of low health literacy by ensuring that the information provided in this brochure is at a level where a 6th grader would be able to understand because not all people literacy level is beyond that. Medical terminology would be removed and something simpler would be incorporated instead. What may seem logical and simple to some may not be simple for others. Realizing that someone of a medical background who has years of experience and schooling must consider the fact that their common sense is not common sense for someone whose educational background does not expand beyond that of grammar school. The brochure would have been written in a relatable way for the patient.
