Week 8 Reflection on Learning and Practice Readiness Amy Rodriguez Chamberlain University NR-706: Healthcare Informatics & Information Systems Professor’s Name Due Date Week 8 Reflection on Learning and Practice Readiness The course challenged my thinking regarding translation of research findings into evidence-based nursing practice. Before this course, I was not aware of the need to integrate a translation science model when implementing nursing interventions. However, based on the translation science concepts I have learned in this course, I am now informed regarding the benefits of incorporating a translation science model such as the Knowledge-to-Action Framework as these models helps in organizing the strategies being tested, establish the potential barriers to implementing the intervention, and ensures that high-quality evidence is distinguished from the dubious evidence that is not applicable in practice. Supporting this realization, Torres et al. (2023) explicate that nursing practice must be based on a structural support that defines context-specific interventions, and this structural support is a translation science model. Thus, I have learned from this course that implementing evidence-based nursing practice requires the integration of a translation science model to describe the steps, ranging from research selection, the most feasible evidence-based strategies to sustaining the incorporation of these interventions. Regarding summary and analysis of evidence-based studies, I have learned from this course that to acquire feasible findings from the studies, the Johns’ Hopkins evidence summary tool is a commendable tool that helps in evaluating and ranking evidence in the literature. After using the tool in this course to summarize and analyze the selected studies, I now understand that there are three acceptable levels of evidence ranging from Level I to level III, and these levels help nurses to determine the quality of research, validity, and application to patient care.
