MIS582-Module 2: Case Study Assignment Impulse Logic and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: A Modern Database Analysis By. James Matthews DeVry University, Keller Grad Prof. Dr. Anas Bayan Due DateIntroduction: The other reason is because, as a computer information technology student and a future professional whose job is going to require data-driven decision making, I believe case studies like these are so valuable. They fill that space between the textbook of what we learn and the reality of how technology is used in high-stakes, outcome-driven spaces. How to Impulse Logic leverages Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to run retail operations is more than just a savvy business decision. It’s also an example of how database systems, when done right, can transform a business. In this piece, I’ll detail how they made their database happen, the core parameters and requirements necessary to maintain their platform, the architecture and data flow of the database as a whole that makes it effectively responsive, and the security that was needed to safeguard sensitive business info. In the process, I’ll also hit on what I learned at school and in earlier jobs as they relate to the techniques used here, demonstrating just how downright powerful and not impractical bleeding-edge database solutions can be. Identify and analyze the database implementation Upon reading the Impulse Logic case study, I was impressed to see how they are employing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to create a robust, scalable, and intelligent database offering. Their infrastructure I’ve read about and worked with is a great use case for cloud-based database implementation. They didn’t just transition their company to the cloud they reenvisioned their entire data strategy. The company used Oracle Autonomous Database to manage their Smart Process Control platform, which depends on real-time data ingestion, analytics, and task automation. But what really caught my attention was that this site can help retail clients cut labor costs by as much as 40% “a big deal from my days in operational management. In the military, I’ve seen how critical automation and thoughtful planning are to success, and it made sense to see an application of those for a civilian audience. Here, it's the triumvirate of cloud scale, native AI capabilities and throughput on queries that make this more than just a database solution, but a strategic one. Explain the database parameters and constraints needed for the organization Technically speaking, the database parameters and requirements to facilitate this kind of structure make it sturdy and intricate. First, they should be built to support high concurrency and high throughput, such as during high-traffic retail seasons like Black Friday or the holiday season. This requires performance tuning, the use of caching strategies, and well-crafted indexing. They probably set constraints like NOT NULL, UNIQUE and FOREIGN KEY everywhere across the main tables to keep the referential integrity. Consider a product replenishment event being spawned based on a wrong or “orphaned” product ID mistakes like these can be expensive. They also require data validation rules to ensure that data entered is correct,
