NR 541 Week 4 Assignment Individual Development Plan

Individual Plan 2 Development Abstract This paper is a reflection from the assignment performed on Week 1. 10 Skills were identified as the most important to develop and how I plan to develop or improve upon these skills, and why. Insight was provided as to why these skills may be difficult to speak on but what is intended in order to improve in the future. Individual Plan 4 Development Planning These are skills that I unfortunately will not be able to attain until I have a position within the informatics field. It is important to develop these skills as I progress as a future informaticist nurse when I acquire a position because nurses are often being left to make decisions that require IT support knowledge. This can include how to develop or improve a system that will be beneficial and user-friendly (Collins et. al, 2017). While I have some experience of using different databases throughout my nursing career, I have not been given the task to create queries for databases or run reports. Some of these skills I feel are like things I currently do but are not quite the same. For example, I have worked on a team before and have participated in a team report, but it is different compared to informatics. I believe the best way for me to attain these skills are going to be when I enter a position and observe during the orientation phase of what is expected. I plan to ask what is expected of me as well as what is the best expected way to perform a task, given a situation. As someone who has never held an informatics position, my first goal is to seek to understand how and why things are done, then understand how to do what is required of me. I believe some of these skill sets such as how to work on a team, incorporating law into informatics and managing projects may be skills I can potentially develop or enhance while I am still pursuing my masters here at Chamberlain. By reading and responding to my peers, I can read and learn from their experiences, which may involve someone currently in an informatics position. In conclusion, many of the listed skills are important for an informaticist to acquire as it is the foundation of how to perform our duties. Unfortunately, I am only able to theorize how I can accomplish these skill sets which I speculate would be in the orientation phase of my position. I am currently attempting to apply for entry level positions within NI. I truly Individual Plan 6 Development will begin to apply the knowledge I am learning theoretically into a real-world situation. Until then, I will do my best to see what my peers’ experience is like for those that currently hold a position within NI.
