B. What are the ethical and legal obligations for the PMHNP in the above situation? The ethical and legal obligations for the PMHNP in the above situation is to provide patient safety, maintain confidentiality, determine capacity of the patient to make decisions, and advocate for the patient’s well-being ( ). The primary standard of professional performance in Nursing: Scope and standards of Practice is identified by The American Nurses Association (ANA). Ethical principles are utilized to distinguish actions which are right from wrong. There are numerous ethical principles which guide nursing practice. The foundational ethical principles of nursing practice include respect for autonomy (self-determination), beneficence (doing good), nonmaleficence (doing no harm), justice (fairness), fidelity (keep promises), and veracity (tell the truth) (Ernstmeyer & Christman, 2022). Furthermore, the PMHNP should provide a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s health status, social history, and medical history, with compassion and respect for the patient (Ernstmeyer & Christman, 2022). C. Goals that are not mutually shared between providers and patients can be very challenging, both clinically and emotionally. What steps can the PMHNP take to promote their personal emotional and mental health when working with clients whose health choices are likely to lead to adverse health outcomes? The steps the PMHNP can take to promote their personal emotional and mental health when working with clients whose health choices are likely to lead to adverse health outcomes include prioritizing self-care, seeking professional supervision, engaging in mindfulness and stress management techniques, setting boundaries, and seeking support from colleagues as well as loved ones (Kumar, et al., 2020). Nursing is a challenging profession and can take a mental, physical, and emotional toll at times. The responsibility lies with the PMHNP to address their well-being with the organization and structures that support them. In order to exercise their autonomy, agency, and competence within these systems the nurse requires skills and tools. Furthermore, to understand the system and the individual characteristics that create the conditions for nurses to thrive in complexity, uncertainty, and unpredictability further investigation is required (Flaubert et al., 2021). It is essential for the PMHNP to promote self-care by engaging in physical activity such as an exercise regimen, maintaining a healthy diet, and when there is a good therapeutic alliance or therapeutic interpersonal relationship between mental health professionals (Lin, et al., 2022). The PMHNP should involve the patient n decision-making and address any barriers that causes the patient to not be compliant with the treatment regimen. Furthermore, the PMHNP should educate the patient on side effects and other misunderstandings of medication for further treatment compliance. References Lin, Y. Y., Yen, W. J., Hou, W. L., Liao, W.
