Patients without health insurance have access to a variety of resources to obtain prescriptions. GoodRx.com is one such resource that is utilized in the clinic where I am currently conducting my clinical rotation. For instance, Cefixime is priced at approximately $81 for two 400mg capsules at retail; however, it can be acquired for approximately $18 per two capsules through GoodRx.com, costing the patient of roughly $100 for her 14 day supply. In the same vein, Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily, which can be purchased for as little as $11 through GoodRx.com for a 14 day supply, is priced at approximately $30 without insurance. It is imperative for providers to guarantee that patients have easy access to these resources and to provide them with the necessary support to ensure that they are able to utilize them to improve medication adherence.
