NR 576 Week 8 Reflection....

2 Reflection Throughout these past 8 weeks, this class has been a challenge, yet rewarding at the same time. One of the main challenges I had to face early on was how am I going to do 125 hours’ worth of clinical hours, do homework, study for exams, go to work, and maintain regular life duties. Yet, as the class went on and you start developing a structured routine, things fall into place and you how to better manage your time and schedule on what needs to be done within that week or time frame you may have. When looking at our MSN Program Outcomes, one of our options includes we create a caring environment for achieving quality health outcomes. This I believe is an important one. Throughout my clinical experience not only did my preceptor, and I try to achieve this, but the entire clinical staff as well. This involves individuals working from registration, medical assistants, and nurses. When the patient comes back to our exam room the first person, they encounter is our medical assistants. They are responsible for rooming the patient, from taking their vitals, updating their chart, and getting their chief complaint. This makes it easier for my preceptor and I before going to see the patient as we can see what brings them in, any new changes they may have had, and look at their vitals to see what can be done before walking into the room. When seeing the patient, we notice where and how they are sitting, make sure they are comfortable and provide a warm, caring environment that sets the setting. One important factor I have noticed, is active listening goes a long way. When the patient see’s you are paying attention to them, and not distracted it shows that you are caring and are listening to their concerns so we can provide the best treatment options for everyone. When looking at the MSN Essential the one that stood out to me was Interprofessional Collaboration for Improving Patient and Population Health Outcomes. One of the ways I have achieved this was done mostly from our I-Human assignments and VISE call with our professor. 4 how they do based on that, and keep us informed of their blood pressure reading at home. Majority of the time my preceptor was good with this decision as we are trying to maintain a goal blood pressure for our patients.
