However, over the course of my clinical rotation, I was able to gain experience and close gaps in my clinical skills and abilities. Before completing this rotation, I had not performed a digital rectal exam or fluorescein eye staining. After reading about these procedures and discussing them with my preceptor, I performed the procedure and examination and have become more confident. I have had several opportunities to assess a patients gait and balance; I can now do this confidently on my own. I am confident in my ability to interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, perform a Mini Mental Status Exam, and perform a foreign body removal. Unfortunately, I was unable to perform any procedures during my clinical rotations. I do not have experience in suturing, nail removal/nail trephination, or performing a prostate examination. During my clinical rotation, I gained more confidence with my assessment skills and procedures. Before completing this rotation, I had not performed a digital rectal exam or fluorescein eye staining.
