2 To improve listening skills you have to shift your listening from being passive to an active listener, by doing so you will have to remove distractions, leaning into nonverbal cues and withhold the urges to have a respond while someone else is speaking. Specific Topic Removing all distractions is being in a quite environment by giving yourself and the speaker your undivided attention. According to Arlin (2026) “paying attention to the speaker’s body language, eye contact and tone of voice to understand their underlying emotions and their true intent.” You can also use affirming body language as well by nodding and maintaining that eye contact assuring that the speaker is being heard. Also having the control from any rebuttal, having the self-control to have the mental to not try to think about the next thing to say and honestly only focus taking in the message that’s being given.
