As you gain experience, your clinical reasoning will begin at the outset of the pa琀椀ent encounter, not at the end. Re昀氀ect on the clinical reasoning you used during this virtual pa琀椀ent encounter. This encounter I struggled, and it is re昀氀ected in my physical assessment. I treated this pa琀椀ent for his hypertension when he hadn’t seen a physician in a long 琀椀me. I’m used to trea琀椀ng a pa琀椀ent for their problems and not a full comprehensive assessment. This pa琀椀ent should have been treated with a comprehensive assessment and not just a focused. He had mul琀椀ple problems presented and I only focused on the hypertension. I was focused on one aspect and should have looked at the bigger picture. Describe the steps taken to iden琀椀fy and interpret the key 昀椀ndings in this case. Star琀椀ng with the history, I was able to 昀椀nd the pa琀椀ent had mul琀椀ple problems that he was presen琀椀ng with. I was thorough with my history taking but lacked extremely on my physical assessment. I was caught up with the hypertension that I did not treat the pa琀椀ent with a comprehensive assessment. This could lead to other problems that could be missed and skimmed over in future visits. In an ar琀椀cle by Chen et al (2020), they state that competently performing this skill translates to appropriate pa琀椀ent management and be琀琀er pa琀椀ent outcomes.
