Medications The treatment for migraine headaches involves managing acute symptoms, preventing future attacks and promoting the patient’s over- all health (Pescador Ruschel & De Jesus, 2024). Sumatriptan 50 mg tablets: Take one tablet by mouth once immediately after the onset of migraine headache to stop its progression (Pescador Ruschel & De Jesus, 2024). Propranolol 40 mg tablets: Take one tablet by mouth once daily as starting dose for the prevention of migraine headaches. It may take 3 months to completely feel the benefits of preventive treatment (Kumar & Kadian, 2023). Referrals None currently. Education Lifestyle modification is an important aspect of migraine management (Haghdoost & Togha, 2022). More specifically, avoiding migraine trigger factors is very significant in reducing the impact of migraine headaches (Haghdoost & Togha, 2022). For patient BB, she admits to a stressful life situation, lack of leisure activities, unhealthy diet, and predisposition to chocolates which are all considered as migraine trigger factors (Haghdoost & Togha, 2022). Follow-up To establish outcome of treatments, an active follow-up program is essential for migraine patients (Eigenbrodt et al., 2021).
