MIPS plays an important role in the financial viability of healthcare providers and organizations by correlating payment to quality performance. It incentivizes providers to further invest in quality improvement initiatives to ultimately deliver better care while enhancing their payment adjustments and patient satisfaction. Healthcare administrators may be advised to take quicker initiatives otherwise they may lose the ability to compete if other healthcare organizations successfully pull all the clientele (Kauffman, 2020). Advanced practice nurses can contribute to the development and refinement of MIPS quality measures to ensure that they are valid, reliable, and meaningful by providing patient education and support. APNs play an important role in “supporting, mentoring, and educating… nursing teams, the collaboration… recognition, triage, and management of treatment” (Gilesenan, 2024). Educating patients empowers them to make informed decisions about their health. APNs also play a role in obtaining data by documentation of BMI, education topics, and patient outcomes.
