NR 631 Week 1 Collabora琀椀on Café A common prac琀椀ce for leaders is to establish short-term and long-term goals. Many leaders set one-year and 昀椀ve-year goals for where they would like to be at those intervals. Share a short-term (one-year) and/or a long-term (昀椀ve-year) goal you have for yourself in your career trajectory. As a class, we look for opportuni琀椀es to encourage each other in working toward these goals! Answer One short-term goal I have for myself in my career trajectory in healthcare as a nurse is to become cer琀椀昀椀ed in the opera琀椀ng room. Si琀��ng for the CNOR is a short- term goal of mine since I have been in the opera琀椀ng room (OR) for 6 years now. This will help me specialize in a speci昀椀c area of healthcare. Along with the CNOR cer琀椀昀椀ca琀椀on, I plan to con琀椀nue addi琀椀onal training to improve my exper琀椀se at a master’s level in nursing. One long-term (昀椀ve-year) goal I have in my career as a nurse is to take on a leadership posi琀椀on. I have applied for a couple di昀昀erent assistant nurse manager posi琀椀ons to help transi琀椀on into a leadership role. I would like to advance in my career to gain skills necessary in leading a team that improves healthcare delivery. I hope my goals encourage my classmates to work towards their goals as well. I think having short and long-term goals are cri琀椀cal to help career development, and they give nurses focus for improvement and future goals.
