DNP 730 Week 8 Discussion Reflection In the course NR 730, I was challenged to think critically and apply ethical considerations and theories relevant to translation science in designing and implementing a practice change. This challenge was exemplified in my choice of practice change DNP project which is the implementation of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) for depression screening to improve screening accuracy and referral rates. The course emphasized the importance of using the highest level of evidence available to inform practice changes. I was also challenged to appraise and synthesize evidence from the literature to support the implementation of the PHQ-9 for depression screening. This challenge helped me to acquire a deep understanding of research methodologies, including randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses, to determine the strength and quality of evidence supporting my intervention and practice problem. Furthermore, the course challenged me to consider the impact of my practice change project on diverse populations and to prioritize ethical considerations in designing and implementing the change. For example, I was encouraged to consider how cultural differences, language barriers, and socioeconomic status might affect the implementation and effectiveness of the PHQ-9 for depression screening. The course also emphasized the importance of clinical scholarship methodologies for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating quality improvements in healthcare outcomes (Christenbery, 2017). I was challenged to use a systematic approach to identify gaps in current practice, develop a plan for implementing the PHQ-9 for depression screening, and evaluate the effectiveness of the practice change. Overall, the course NR 730 challenged me to think critically, appraise evidence, prioritize ethical considerations, and apply clinical scholarship methodologies to improve healthcare outcomes. The implementation of the PHQ-9 for depression screening which is my DNP project is as example of how the course challenged me to use these skills to develop and implement practice changes that improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, and healthcare outcomes of diverse populations. The course NR 730 provided me with a comprehensive and rigorous preparation for practicing as a DNP prepared nurse. The course emphasizes the critical role of evidence- based practice in improving healthcare outcomes at the micro, meso, and macrosystem levels and provides the learner with the tools and frameworks to design, develop, implement, and evaluate quality improvement projects that are grounded in evidence-based practice. One of the key skills I developed from this course is the ability to appraise and synthesize the highest level of evidence available to improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, and healthcare outcomes of diverse populations. This skill is essential for DNP prepared nurses, as it enables them to make informed decisions about the best course of action to improve patient care and outcomes. The course also prepared me to design and implement effective quality improvement projects that are evidence-based and grounded in clinical scholarship methodologies (Christenbery, 2017). This skill is particularly important for DNP prepared nurses, as they are expected to lead and implement practice change initiatives that improve patient outcomes, safety, and quality of care. Furthermore, the course emphasizes the
