Assignment 1: Study Plan Student NameWalden University NRNP 6568 March 20th Assignment 1: Study Plan Throughout this assignment I will reflect on my practice exam results by creating a study plan identifying content-area strengths and opportunities for improvement. In addition, I will include three specific goals including the tasks I need to complete to accomplish each goal, a timetable for accomplishing them, and a description of how I will measure my progress. I will also include resources I would use to accomplish my goals and tasks, such as ways to participate in study group or review course, mnemonics and other mental strategies, and online resources I could use to help study. I believe this study plan will help track my goals, tasks, and progress and ultimately help me prepare for the national certification exam. Reflecting on my practice exam results, I honestly did not do as good as I expected with an overall 60% of correct answers. However, I was able to identify content-area strengths as well as opportunities for improvement. Being a postpartum nurse for the past four years, my biggest content-area strength is women’s health including OB/GYN and newborn care. After completing the practice exam, I noticed the majority of the correct answers came from those areas. In addition, I noticed another content-area strength was the HEENT and respiratory systems. I was also able to see the trend of where my weaknesses are and the opportunities for improvement. For example, I missed quite a few pharmacological questions, questions regarding professional issues including Medicare and durable power of attorney, and questions on the gastrointestinal, renal, and hematological systems. After reviewing the practice exam questions and the areas for improvement, I have created a study plan that includes three specific goals. My first goal is to correctly answer 85% of the pharmacological test questions covering all body systems by the end of this class. To accomplish this goal, I will continuously complete online practice exams covering pharmacology questions, create flashcards to test my knowledge, and study mnemonics that will help advance my mental strategies. One specific resource I plan to use is Picmonic, which is an online study tool that creates a research-proven learning system and covers thousands of hard-to-learn facts and topics by incorporating memorable characters, unforgettable stories, and built-in quizzing (Picmonic’s, 2022). Multiple reviews have proven this resource to be extremely helpful especially covering pharmacology and because I am a visual learner, I believe this will be an excellent resource for me and will help me reach my first goal of my study plan. The next goal in my study plan is to successfully answer correctly 100% of the exam questions regarding professional issues including ethical guidelines and advanced practice law by week 8 of this course. I will accomplish this goal by continuing to review these specific topics in the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Intensive Review text and test my knowledge with the practice questions as well as making flashcards of the
