WK4Assgn_Gudricht_J The impact of NURSING INFORMATICS on Patient Outcomes and Care. The goal of incorporating new technologies into patient care is to increase efficiency and guarantee patient safety. Examples of these technologies include electronic health records, smartphones, and electronic medication systems (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2018, p. 525). Nurse informatics has become particularly crucial as these technologies become more commonplace. To improve the standard and safety of patient care, nurse informaticists work in conjunction with healthcare professionals and technology specialists to integrate clinical practice and information technology (IT). It is critical for patient care that nurses discuss pertinent patient care information with one another when shifts change. The principal objective of nursing care is to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes. Ensuring the effective handoff of critical patient information is imperative to improve care and preserve treatment continuity. The research proposal is mainly focused on the reporting of nurse bedside shifts. Proposed Project With the patient's authorization, the Nurse Bedside Shift Report project proposes that both departing and arriving nurses complete the shift handoff report in the patient's room. This enables the patient to participate in the handoff by listening and asking questions. It is intended to improve patient satisfaction and safety when patients and their families are included in the safe transition of care between nurses. Bedside reporting has been linked as per the increased patient satisfaction and safety, research. The purpose of the nurse bedside shift report is to enable direct communication between patients and their families as well as the departing and arriving nurses during shift changes. Previously, these reports were finished at the nursing station, in a conference room, or away from the patients. There are times when the patient's real condition on my initial assessment and care differs greatly from the report I received. Improving patient outcomes is an ongoing and vital responsibility for healthcare professionals, and good communication is essential to this process. As shown in a study, miscommunication between caregivers and patients estimated to account for more than 70% of adverse events (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, n.d.). The nursing bedside shift report involves patients in their care planning in addition to enabling incoming and departing nurses to assess patients for safety concerns. Effect to the Stakeholders Nurse bedside shift reports are predominantly included in standard nursing care because of concerns about lowering patient fall rates and raising nurse and patient satisfaction ratings. Efforts to improve Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores and fall rates is a shared duty among all healthcare providers. Hospital administrators, nurses, employees in related clinical and managerial roles, patients, and their families are some of the stakeholders impacted by this project. The team held to account for nursing informatics will also be involved, with a focus on maintaining patients' electronic health records (EHRs) and fusing nursing science with information technology. Effect to the Patients Administrators putting so much effort hospitals and other healthcare facilities are into changing the atmosphere to guarantee patient safety and
