In family practice a lot of patients are non-compliant with medications and are uncomfortable telling the doctor that they are not taking medications as prescribed, but will tell me as a nurse that they picked the prescription up but ever had any intentions on taking the medication. They felt comfortable enough to express their intentions versus with the doctor. Usually the nurse is at the bed side more and have a fun relationship with the patient that allows more comfortability and honesty at times so this allows the patient to feel more relaxed to be theirselves.
