NURS 6003 Discussion Post #Main Post Personal Introduction Hello colleagues! I am Ava Septe Tagalo, an experienced registered nurse who has spent three years in the emergency department. In New Jersey, I have experienced the health problems faced by people in underserved areas. Experience in the emergency department has shown me many different types of patients and emergencies, which have helped me realize healthcare inequities. As a result, I have grown passionate about guiding nursing practice by using evidence and leading others. I am eager to join Walden University’s MSN program to use my skills to help solve significant healthcare problems and support better outcomes for patients in need. Alignment with Walden's Vision and Mission The university’s commitment to social change aligns with my career goals and matches the scholar-practitioner I want to become. Walden University’s goal to support positive social change with education aligns with my goal to improve the healthcare situation in underserved communities (Walden University, 2020b). From my time as an emergency nurse, I can see how social factors influence patient health. Because of Walden’s mission, I can develop the education needed to tackle these matters (Greaney & O’Mathúna, 2024). Because the university values using knowledge in practice, I can move from being a bedside nurse to a nurse leader and connect my work with what I learn at school. MSN Program Outcomes Connection The Walden MSN Program Outcomes give me a structured path for becoming a scholar- practitioner who follows evidence and ethical leadership. The results underline the need for strong critical thinking, improvements, and ethical decision-making, all important skills for an emergency nurse (Walden University, 2020a).
